This morning, K and I went to a CHJA horse show to watch her friend S and her sister E jump. There is nothing cuter than seeing all of those little girls in their riding outfits! K's dream is to be in a hunter/jumper competition. However, looking at the picture I took of her friend E, it scares me to death!! Notice she is completely off the saddle! She managed to stay on her horse and actually took second place for that ride. Way to go E! After the show K and I went to the barn so she could ride a little and she managed to get thrown again! At least this time she went sideways instead of over the horse's head! I didn't even freak out!! I think I'm adjusting well!

Soccer Season

Soccer season has begun! I don't think E got any sleep last night because she was so excited about her first game of the season! She has more energy than the Energizer Bunny!! She played a great game and scored six of the team's goals. The whole team played awesome and made some great passes. This is the first year for her to be on an all-girl team -- which greatly helps with the name-choosing for the team. The girls decided that when they wear their red uniforms they are the Shooting Stars, and when they wear the blue side they are the Dolphins. Hmm -- think my daughter had something to do with picking that one? She is also very excited that one of her best friends is on her team this year. E is already talking about next week's game!

First Day of Preschool

S started preschool last Tuesday and was so excited that I could hardly get him to stand still for his annual school picture on the front porch! He was most excited about his new rolling Thomas the Tank Engine backpack (which had his Thomas blanket and his Thomas pillow inside). It sure was quiet around the house that day!!

Dogs Don't Fly

D was walking around singing "I'll Fly Away" -don't know why. He got to the phrase 'I'll fly away, oh glory.......' and S said, "Glory can't fly!" For those of you that don't know, Glory is my in-laws' dog that we are keeping while they are in England. S is obviously in a very literal stage right now! He likes to read lots of 'bookses' and drink from his 'cupses'. His favorite phrase is 'I'm just kidning!'. I love this age!! He finally gets to start preschool on Tuesday, and he is so excited!
BTW -- for those of you with boys, be very careful if they happen to fall off of a tall toilet. It can require a stitch in a very, um , sensitive area! That was our latest S incident, and it hasn't slowed him down!

First Day of School

School has begun!! I can't believe I have a 2nd and a 4th grader!! E was so excited she didn't go to sleep until after 10:00 last night. K didn't want to go back -- she wasn't ready for summer to end. They both had a great day and L and S were very excited to see them when they got home. They were, however, bummed to find out that Grandma, L and I had a girls' shopping day while they were at school!

The VERY Lost Tooth

Just before dinner tonight, E lost a tooth (and was very excited about it). A little while later we were in the kitchen making chalupas, and Grandma asked E where she put her tooth. E said 'right there' and pointed to the spot on the counter where D had just dumped a huge bag of shredded colby-jack cheese to thaw. Do you know what shredded jack looks like? It is exactly the same color of a tooth!! D, L, E, Grandma, and I were all desperatley searching through the cheese to find the tooth before someone ate it for dinner!! Luckily, I found it on the very edge of the cheese pile. There was relief all around!

Rainy Day

This is what you call dedication to the sport. K couldn't wait to go riding this morning even though it was 6o degrees and raining!! Dolly didn't seem to mind the rain, either. I see horse ownership in our future. She is still determined to be a horse vet and wants to go to A&M (who wouldn't?) because they have an equestrian team. I'm not sure what she's going to do when school and volleyball start because she won't be able to ride every day! I guess that will give me time to figure out how to keep from having an allergy attack when I walk in the barn.

Beautiful Day!

<

We decided to take advantage of the wonderful 78 degree weather and go outside for some pictures. They turned out pretty well considering we had the camera sitting on a rock!

OK -- Enough of you have convinced me that this is the easiest way to keep up with each other. So, here it is -- our famliy blog!
